Position Title: Construction Surveyor (Specializing in GPS RTK Survey Construction Layout)

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Surveyor specializing in GPS RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) survey technology. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the layout and positioning of transformer station construction for the Hydro One Waasigan Project, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in alignment with project specifications and plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform construction layout tasks using GPS RTK survey equipment to ensure precise measurements and alignments.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to provide accurate site data and layout points.
- Conduct field surveys to establish reference points, elevations, and benchmarks for construction.
- Maintain and calibrate survey equipment, including GPS receivers, total stations, and data collectors.
- Interpret and analyze construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure alignment with survey data.
- Create and update survey reports, records, and as-built documentation.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between design plans and actual site conditions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on-site.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Construction Surveyor, with a focus on GPS RTK survey technology.
- Proficiency in operating GPS RTK systems, total stations, and related surveying equipment.
- Strong knowledge of construction layout principles and practices.
- Familiarity with CAD software, survey data processing tools, and other relevant technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- [Optional] Certification or licensure in land surveying or construction surveying.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Knowledge of robotic total stations and 3D modeling integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
