Construction Sales Manager (Full-Time) - Ontario or Alberta
Primary Purpose
The Construction Sales Manager will be responsible for selling and managing construction projects within their assigned territory. They will work extensively in the field at customer sites, gaining construction projects, establishing project management, and site management and commissioning for new and innovative technology. They will also provide support to sales team members to help grow sales revenues and profits, gain new strategic opportunities, and meet sales targets within an assigned geographic area or group of customer accounts.
Key Accountabilities:
- Proactively identifies, investigates, evaluates, and develops new emerging growth/business opportunities and initiatives.
- Focuses on new business development opportunities with EPC’s and major construction contractors in Canada, maintaining customer relationships and troubleshooting specific customer problems.
- Focuses on building relationships with key industry players as well as key accounts to spearhead growth opportunities and develop the market segment strategy, account strategies, and investment to capture the business opportunities.
- Works with LG&E counterparts on developing cross-border relationships with Multi-National contractors.
- Promote sales, introduces the organization's programs and provides account service to assigned and potential customers.
- Develops customer needs analysis, including long and short-term goals and tactics, pricing strategy and a renegotiation plan.
- Secures long-term relationships by negotiating straightforward agreements and T&C’s.
- Understands competitive activity and strategies within assigned area/group of customers.
- Monitors competitive activity and maintains competitive intelligence databases.
- Understands the value of Linde's products and application technology in developing pricing recommended actions.
- Recognizes and expands opportunities at existing customers bringing solutions and value.
- Prepares estimates of construction work by gathering proposals, specifications, and related documents.
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, specifications, and related documents and computes costs by analyzing these requirements.
- Coordinates RFP development, purchase orders, professional subcontracts and owner executed agreements with Linde’s contracts administrator.
- Serves as the point of contact during project Pre-Construction phase, including coordination, communication with project team as to the project work plan, interim coordination, project status and final project delivery.
- Develops and maintains strong vendor relationships, a qualified network of vendors and identifying strategic partners.
- Promotes teamwork with TMs, Application Specialists, Vending & Inventory Management.
- Understands concepts around MB, Bulk, and POD initiatives.
- Utilizes marketing programs for account gains & growth.
- Focuses on key performance indicators through management of various review functions.
- Drives compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals in support of leadership objectives.
- Willing to work or respond to customer site inquiries/demands off hours.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in construction management, project management, engineering or related degree preferred.
- 7+ years Outside Sales experience.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Fluent in English (and French strongly preferred).
- Prior industry experience is required.
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or CWE certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or construction sales.
- Foundational understanding or experience with the engineering and construction of technically complex utility intensive industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of the Canadian National Building Codes and Standards.
- Technical knowledge of industrial and medical gases (O2, N2, Ar, He, CO2, Air, H2) & process piping, High Purity and Ultra High Purity materials used in the distribution of process utilities for manufacturing.
- Functional skills: Selling and negotiations, Problem solving, Written and oral communication, Product/Process knowledge, Continuous learning, Time management, Customer Relationship Management, Planning and organizing, Critical and innovative thinking.
- Strong financial, analytical and business acumen required.
- Must be well organized and able to handle multiple priorities with time management proficiency.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills essential.
- Travel required between 50% - 75%.
