Summary:

Our Client is a fortune 500 company who is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager for the construction of a new datacenter. The primary role of a Construction Safety Manager is to act as the client’s safety representative on-site. This involves providing oversight, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and verifying that the general contractor (GC) adheres to their approved safety program in compliance with local regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing 30% of the GC’s safety practices.
  2. Ensuring no dangerous activities occur on-site.
  3. Representing the client in health and safety matters.
  4. Reporting incidents.
  5. Assisting the GC in understanding the client’s health and safety processes.
  6. Conducting occasional safety audits to ensure compliance with the submitted safety program.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the main point of contact for implementing EHS programs at a Datacenter site.
  2. Be accountable for EHS performance metrics and the execution of improvement plans.
  3. Periodically inspect, audit, and review safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  4. Conduct workplace risk and exposure assessments for various hazards.
  5. Support incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify, communicate, and implement corrective and preventive actions globally.
  6. Conduct and deliver regulatory training programs to meet EHS requirements.
  7. Embody our culture and values.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 10+ years of experience in the safety industry.
  2. 5+ years of experience in construction.
  3. Ideally, 2+ years of experience in data center construction.
  4. Experience overseeing general contractors, reporting incidents, and managing health and safety.
  5. Fluent in English.
  6. Comfortable working on-site in a data center construction environment.
  7. 100% on-site presence required.
  8. Excellent skills in analysis, planning, organization, direction, and control.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate with local unionized construction laborers.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, AND 10+ years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations. OR equivalent experience.
