Construction Project Manager

Job Summary:

Our client in the GTA is seeking a Construction Project Manager to join their team! The Construction Project Manager position performs principal functions to ensure overall health & safety, ensure completion of construction projects on schedule and budget.

Job Duties:

  1. Meet with the clients and head of departments to advise and identify the client requirements.
  2. Estimate high-level budget and planning schedule to be presented for approval.
  3. Prepare the project charter and seek the approval from the client.
  4. Initiate the project and establish the communication plan including the project organizational chart.
  5. Apply the adequate PMP methods and knowledge.
  6. Lead the tender process for consultants, designers, general contractors, and subtrades.
  7. Prepare the contractual documents and specify the contract type with its terms and conditions.
  8. Present the enterprise with the supporting consultants to the different authorities and governmental bodies to acquire the corresponding permits for construction.
  9. Engage third parties’ quality control and ensure the implementation of the high-quality best standards and practices throughout the project construction phases.
  10. Submit the risk management plan and identify the risk trigger list.
  11. Control the project progress within the estimated budget and according to the planning schedule.
  12. Follow up with the consultant’s conformity letters and ensure the project compliance with the applicable regulations.
  13. Ensure coordination with the company’s different departments.
  14. Enforce health and safety regulations within the project construction phases.
  15. Apply the adequate management methods to ensure RFI clarification and the implementation of all the correction actions recommended at the NCR correction reports.
  16. Deliver the As-built to the client department along with all the contacts, warranty, and assets technical documents.
  17. Close the project professionally and ensure the completion of the handover in an efficient approach and result.

Qualifications:

  1. Construction management or Engineering degree, civil or architectural.
  2. Minimum 4-5 years as Project Manager at a General contracting corporation.
  3. Experience in a commercial and industrial project.
  4. Project Management certification is an asset.
  5. Knowledge in geotechnical and Heavy industrial Equipment is an asset.
  6. Strong leadership skills within the field of expertise.
  7. Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work requirements effectively with minimal direction.
  8. Critical thinking & problem-solving skills; attention to detail; ability to multi-task.
  9. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  10. Experience in estimating, planning approval processes, and working within the regulatory process is an asset.
  11. Read and use AutoCAD for sketches demonstrating and build/schedule MS Project.
  12. Knowledge of OBC Code as well as the ECA and conservation authority regulation.
  13. Flexibility to travel on occasional weekends.
