Job Description:
The primary role of the Construction Foreperson is to plan, organize and control activities of a construction group, to ensure the project is completed in accordance to company standards and safety practices; to liaise with technical personnel and to update the site management on activities, progress and challenges; to suggest methods and procedures to minimize project cost to ensure the work meets design specifications according to client requirements.
Responsibilities
General:
- Assist project engineering and construction management, when necessary, in clarifying or defining parameters and deciding on processes to be utilized
- Monitor operations activities to ensure construction progress on the project is within expectations
- Take appropriate action as critical dates approach to ensure a smooth transition from phase to phase
- Organize and lead crew to achieve planned objective
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and client authorized project work schedules to achieve desired results;
- Supervise sub-contractors and ensure all work is completed according to Redpath safety standards
- Ensure that subcontractors have current and accurate plans and specifications
- Act as principal coordinator and liaison with subcontractors to ensure contract compliance
- Establish expectations with subcontractors and vendors to ensure solid understanding of contract requirements (including documentation and information), expectations, and timing of required construction and materials to finish on schedule

Health and Safety:
- Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
- Ability to participate and complete incident / accident investigations and take corrective action to prevent injury and / or re-occurrence
- Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment for the work.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
- Comply with the Mine Regulation Act and Regulations clauses that apply to your work area.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Lead-Construction Miner
Knowledge Required:
- Must understand underground work environment
- Must understand responsibilities of leadership
- Ability to multitask and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Able to work in team environment, and lead by example
- Willing to mentor others
- Willing to be trained in other aspects of trade
- Ability to read civil prints
- Basic understanding of Mine Regulations pertaining to task
- Ability to conduct risk assessment of specific task
- Understanding of work-related procedures and standards
- Ability to recognize and resolve problems as required
