Job Description:

Duties:

  1. Ensure compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Mandatory Reliability Standards (MRS).
  2. Strengthen BC Hydro's internal compliance program across multiple business areas.
  3. Provide oversight for MRS CIP compliance, including minimizing violations and meeting legal obligations.
  4. Manage internal stakeholder support for MRS compliance implementation.
  5. Maintain expertise in MRS and CIP through relationships with WECC and other utilities.
  6. Coordinate BC Hydro's communications with WECC on CIP compliance matters.
  7. Identify changes to standards and coordinate BC Hydro's involvement.
  8. Prepare final Assessment Report filings for new/revised standards.
  9. Identify CIP Program improvements and assist with implementation plans.
  10. Support risk assessments and internal controls related to CIP.
  11. Provide coaching and guidance as a CIP technical expert.
  12. Guide non-compliance investigations and prepare self-reports to WECC.
  13. Review and assess adequacy of CIP mitigation plans.
  14. Support MRS Program accountabilities, including annual BCUC Assessment Reports.

Qualifications:

  1. University degree or relevant experience.
  2. Ability to obtain security clearance for a Security Sensitive Position.
  3. Minimum of 10 years relevant cyber security and/or reliability compliance/audit experience in the electric utility industry.
  4. Registered Professional Engineer or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA) is an asset.
  5. Experience in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) is an asset.
  6. Demonstrated experience with NERC/MRS Programs, security governance, and leading investigations.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
  9. Effective presentation skills.
  10. Strong leadership skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  11. Must be able to travel to the United States.
