What You’ll Do:
As our Compliance Manager, you’ll be a vital business partner who works closely with teams to foresee potential risks and ensure compliance across the organization. Your role will be central to supporting, advising, and protecting the company through a proactive approach.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supporting and Advising the Local Business on Risk Identification, Management and Monitoring with respect to LOC Medical and Commercial Initiatives
- Overseeing the implementation of Disciplined Compliance throughout the LOC
- Managing day to day activities of LOC Privacy Elements together with legal and above country support.
- As a successful candidate you will participate in various elements of the above including:
1. Being a Business Partner/Challenger
- Seeking to be an effective business partner and advisor to the LOC (Local Operating Committee) and various pharma business units and divisions.
- Strengthening risk management in the LOC by standardizing and simplifying methodology and metrics around managing principal risks and identifying emerging risks.
- Focusing management attention on key challenges arising from the projects and problem solve with project teams to identify and implement appropriate solutions aligned with internal and external codes.
- Support business-led management monitoring ensuring focus on right risk areas and consistency in performance and reporting
- Supporting the business in identifying, advising on and managing key risks in their initiatives and in ethically driving competitive initiatives and responding to competitive challenges
2. Modelling & Supporting “Disciplined Compliance”
- Embedding a data-driven approach to the management of key risks through the use of Data Analytics, Key Risk Indicators and other Insights to enable more effective decision making and management action.
- Jointly, with your Compliance colleagues, leading the local business through the Enterprise Risk Management, Annual Confirmation and Deep Dive processes ensuring the business owners thoroughly assess, understand and manage governance risks relevant to their business responsibilities, You will do this through the use of both objective and subjective data.
- Leading GSK driven self-assessments and helping to coordinate Compliance involvement in internal and external audits, including the resulting corrective and preventative actions.
- Supporting the Independent Monitoring Team (IBM) in leading local monitoring efforts ensuring focus on right risk areas and consistency in performance and reporting.
- Developing and implementing an ongoing plan, including training, to facilitate embedding of Values, ethics and decision-making skills and to create an environment where employees can speak up and understand what the values mean in their work.
3. Managing Day to Day LOC Privacy Responsibilities
- Supporting the Compliance team in managing day to day LOC privacy elements including:
- Managing incident reports
- Reporting to RMCB
- Supporting the local Legal team (& Privacy Contact) and the Digital Privacy & Cybersecurity (DPC) team, as needed, to ensure the LOC adheres to the Privacy Regulatory Requirements, including the development of relevant Privacy Impact Assessments.
Furthermore, you will:
- Represent both E&C on Key LOC Projects and Canada on Key Global Ethics & Compliance (GEC) Projects ensuring compliance with external and internal laws, regulations and standards
- Implement Global Ethics and Compliance programs and initiatives at the local level
- Support Compliance Officer at Country Management Board and Risk Management and Compliance Boards as needed.
- Facilitate knowledge management and sharing of best practices within and outside of E&C with a view to building leadership, and change management capability and capacity within project teams.
- Proactively liaise with above country counterparts to ensure application of best practices and standards
- Work collaboratively across GEC and with GSK internal partners
- Protect GSK with disciplined compliance and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
Qualifications Required:
- University degree, specializing in Legal, Business Administration, Marketing or Sciences
- Three years of experience in a Compliance/Legal role within Pharma industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (French would be an asset)
- Good understanding of/experience in the Canadian Healthcare sector
- Demonstrated track record of success in planning/embedding complex strategic initiatives
- Must have project management experience in the delivery of large complex projects, ideally across a variety of business areas.
- Track record in providing high degree of reliance, accountability, and value-added consultation/support to the business
- Proven ability to develop and apply strategic principles and develop appropriate policy positions in support of varied business activities
- Strong ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust with employees at all levels, including senior management
- Must have a performance mindset and can work tenaciously through difficulties to achieve clear results.
- Excellent leadership, networking, and communication skills to effectively work in a highly matrix environment and influence across business units & management levels
