Job description

As a member of the Saskatoon-based compliance management team, the Compliance Coordinator provides support in maintaining the processes, systems, and databases required to comply with provincial and federal regulatory requirements. The role involves working across an interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder team to secure and maintain regulatory approvals required to advance work at the Rook I Property in northern Saskatchewan. The Compliance Coordinator possesses strong organizational and communication skills, is detail-oriented, is experienced with major construction projects or mining, and has a working knowledge of both technical and management system documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and supporting the development and execution of provincial and federal permitting strategies, including preparation of written applications, reports, and formal correspondence with government agencies and regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinating and leading internal engagement activities to foster NexGen’s culture of compliance management, including collaboration with an interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder team to ensure compliance obligations are understood.
  • Facilitate, support, and track to completion the compilation of technical and management system information required to support applications for regulatory approval.
  • Perform technical reviews of regulatory applications to confirm completeness and compliance.
  • Prepare regulatory letters and meeting agendas, presentations, and minutes.
  • Track regulatory correspondence and engagement.
  • Administer and maintain compliance management databases and processes to track regulatory approval conditions and commitments; compliance management metrics; and changes to legal and other requirements.
  • Support the compilation and review of internal and external compliance management reports.
  • Research regulatory requirements and industry best practices to continually improve permitting and compliance outcomes.

Work Location

This position would ideally be based in the Saskatoon office, with travel as required. For the right candidate, the position could be located elsewhere, with the understanding that regular trips to Saskatoon would be required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in natural sciences, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in permitting, compliance or related roles.
  • Working knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory requirements applicable to the mining industry. Familiarity with Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission requirements considered an asset.
  • Experience authoring and reviewing technical and management system documentation.
  • Experience with maintaining digital systems and databases.
  • Experience with GIS software and mapping tools (e.g., ArcGIS) is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence.
