Community Support Worker - Hamilton

Very High Needs (VHN) is a community-based service focused on community inclusion, personal development, and socially valued roles. Each person is in control of their lives and has flexible support tailored to their needs and goals. Our staff support people to live an everyday life in everyday places and provide 1:1 support to access mainstream activities in their local communities such as going to concerts and watching rugby games.

In partnership with families, our VHN staff will help people towards achieving their goals. This can include supporting them with:

1. Accessing mainstream services in the community e.g. joining local clubs and teams, attending community/cultural events
2. Independent living and social skills, e.g. handling money, learning to catch public transport, looking for volunteer roles, and making friends
3. Educational goals, e.g. looking for suitable courses in the local community, assisting to enroll in classes

The ideal candidate will have:

1. A Full Driver's Licence
2. Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours
3. Strong communication and commitment to building long-lasting, reliable relationships with the people you support and their families
4. Sufficient fitness for an active role that may involve sports and recreational activities
5. The ability to use technology effectively to communicate with the team, and to help the people we support connect with their communities and interests
