Job description

This important role is about supporting a wonderful, funny man two to three times per week. This position is great for someone who enjoys going out for drives to local Vancouver landmarks and dining out at restaurants. This position, or more so the relationship that comes from this position, is an important part of supporting this person to have a well intentioned good life.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will meet this person at their home near 4th Avenue and Alma Street. Most evenings will involve going out for a drive and then dining at a restaurant. When you return to this person's home, there will be some housework that needs tending to.

Some evenings you and the individual may stay home and prepare a meal. Sometimes you may help the person to buy groceries. Other duties may include:

  • Support the person to make healthy food choices.
  • Provide information to the person when there are potential complex challenges.
  • Communicate with a fun and supportive team.
  • Support dignity and independence.

Rate of Pay

CSW: $23.50 / hour to $25.75 / hour

3 Months

Driving Requirement

Driver's license (Class 5)

Preferred Training or Experience

We are recommending a minimum of 1 year related experience working in the community living sector or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience. Mental health experience would be an asset.

  • Reliable
  • Calm and confident presence
  • Good listener
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practical skills in supporting people to observe and resolve conflicts in the community
  • Interest in politics and media would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate key information to team members and supervisors
  • Driving is required; you will be driving the person's vehicle

Specific Training or Experience Required

Supporting people who get anxious; Computer proficiency (email, Word, internet usage)

Expected Hours of Work

Monday: 4pm to 9pm

Wednesday: 4pm to 9pm

Thursday: 2pm to 9pm

Shifts can be divided between 1-2 suitable candidates if they can only fill partial schedule.
