CCIS – Community Development and Integration Services (CDIS) Division
Our Community Development and Integration Services Division works towards empowering individuals and communities to make changes through education, volunteerism, and community development and integration strategies. CDIS is committed to creating a welcoming community and helping newcomers and the community alike work together to build an inclusive community. CDIS programs support this goal through various community approaches, including volunteerism, education, outreach, community development, and cultural diversity capacity building.
Job Summary
CCIS’s Community Development & Integration Services (CDIS) Division is looking for our next Community Resource Worker and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers!

This job is NOT in Calgary. Applicants must be familiar with the Foothills Community.
Functional Statement:
FCIS is looking for a Community Resource Worker who will provide outreach and customized enhanced settlement services and family support to help clients regardless of status by creating awareness and collaborating with community partners and service providers to enhance their social, communal, cultural, health and emotional well-being. The position will connect the clients to the fabric of the communities, plan community special events and initiatives, and refer clients to communal support.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and initiate health, education, employment, social, and ethnocultural events and activities. Collaborate to foster integration for newcomers.
- Connect and identify community social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational and educational services that will meet newcomers’ needs.
- Provide support, guidance, and instruction to facilitate participation and accessibility for clients to these services in a timely manner so that they achieve/maintain a sense of belonging, well-being, engagement, and inclusion in the community.
- Maintain liaison with other agencies, ethno-cultural groups, working professionals, and government personnel in the community.
- Assist clients in accessing and navigating support systems.
Enhanced Settlement Support
- Identify and provide needs assessments and develop an action plan to meet such needs as the individual and their families.
- Provide support to clients who are isolated and/or disengaged from the community.
- Design / provide a client-centred and holistic approach for individuals, families, and community members to support their health and well-being, improve healthy relationships and provide cultural validation.
- Provide necessary referrals to available resources in the Foothills community and surrounding area.
- Coordinate the organization and delivery of services for newcomers with unmet needs.
- Assist and support clients in identifying barriers to accessing resources and support.
- Advocate on behalf of clients.
- Assist newcomers in making meaningful social connections within their community.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Work and coordinate within a team environment to assist with challenging cases.
Workshops/Programs
- Deliver/facilitate monthly workshops/events/activities as needed.
- Organize and deliver public education as required.
- Collaborate with organizations, service providers or other agencies to organize and convene sessions.
Ongoing personal development, administrative and record-keeping tasks:
- Demonstrate competence in verbal, written, and statistical reports; collect data, develop evaluation tools, obtain participants’ feedback.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues and work within a team. Seek input in all program development and design from the direct supervisor and Program Director.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and training to maintain current awareness of mental health and community development methodologies and issues.
- Evident proficiency in computer and associated technologies.
- Communicate effectively face-to-face and via online.
- Maintain confidential information.
- Create, deliver and facilitate presentations.
- Demonstrate ability to work under time constraints and competing demands and work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Social Work or post-secondary education in Community Development and/or Project Management.
- Specialized knowledge: Inter-cultural communication, settlement process, family issues and mental health.
- At least three years of experience working with vulnerable groups, newcomers, and refugees.
- Experience in community-based programming.
Specific requirements
- Knowledge of the Foothills community and its resources.
- Current valid driver’s license & vehicle.
- This position may require working on weekends and evenings.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
