Duties And Responsibilities

The Community Manager, reporting to the Manager of Residence Education, is a live-in staff member responsible for fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive living environment for residence students to promote academic and personal success. Their duties include coordinating and supervising residence life programs, activities, and student accommodations, as well as addressing facility-related issues. The role involves leadership in student development, staff development, and community building while maintaining community living standards. This is an entry-level position in residence life management.

Qualifications

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of student and residence life programs and services as well as policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of emergency response and crisis management including first aid and CPR Training
  • Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments and divisions
  • Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software and technology devices
  • Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices

Education And Experience

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of one year of previous experience in student life program delivery plus supervisory experience

Health and Safety Requirements

This position is regularly required to work on campus in person.
