Description

The Opportunity

Through this eight month opportunity as Hyper Hippo’s Community Engagement Manager, you will act as a liaison between our games and our audience. You will be the voice, tone, and moderator of the brand through community support, content distribution, and digital engagement to build brand presence and trust, both online and at times, in-person.

You will be interacting with our communities on a daily basis with a huge emphasis on engagement; getting our players to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences, and in turn act as a bridge between our players, developers and support team. Facebook, Reddit, Discord, X, Instagram, and YouTube will be your workplace, along with the communities that occupy these spaces.

Our mission is to demonstrate the importance of taking care of our community, and consistently raise the bar on what people expect out of Player Experiences. We want to build strong, growing communities around the games we support, and provide a connection and ‘experience’ for people who contact us. We want to be the reason they tell their friends about a game, and why they keep coming back to play.

A Community Engagement Manager’s Impact

  • Build and nurture our communities by fostering positive conversations, creating engagement opportunities, and building trust with players.
  • Monitor and report on key community engagement metrics, including player sentiment, AdCap community growth, and web store conversions directly driven by community initiatives.
  • Work together to identify and implement strategies that grow community engagement and drive monetization, fostering player loyalty and long-term community health.
  • Collect and analyze player feedback, collaborating with product teams to ensure community-driven insights result in meaningful product improvements.
  • Provide weekly community updates to the department manager, focusing on engagement metrics, growth, and key opportunities.
  • Partner with the Player Experience Team to keep responses engaging and aligned with player needs.
  • Use AI-driven tools for moderation, engagement, and content generation to enhance efficiency and personalization within the community.
  • Help organize and participate in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
  • Liaise with Product Development, Marketing, and Social departments to stay updated on new products and features.
  • Proactively monitor community sentiment and emerging issues, collaborating with PR and production teams to address crises, de-escalate situations, and ensure transparent, brand-aligned communication.
  • Respond to social media posts, mobile game reviews, and questions within various game forums.
  • Stay updated with digital technology trends.

Your Track Record Includes

  • Minimum 2+ years in social engagement and community management—preferably in the tech/gaming industry.
  • Strong understanding of community platforms and how to use them effectively (Discord, Reddit, etc.).
  • Experience with online Community Management and Engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of mobile devices, games, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt in a fast-changing environment.
  • Understanding of pop culture, current events, and gaming culture.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work with team members to achieve goals.
