Job Summary: Reporting to the Associate Vice President Academic, the Community Campus Manager is responsible for supervising daily operations of the campus and coordinates a wide range of administrative functions required by the academic and service departments. The role ensures a positive and healthy learning environment where employees and students can contribute and develop. The Community Campus Manager supports, monitors, and promotes all activities that provide opportunities for the growth of CNC’s strategic partnerships and relationships, both internally and externally. This role supports CNC’s overall strategic plan. The Community Campus Manager works collaboratively with all college departments to ensure that all local operations and functions are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with College policies and procedures. The position also serves as the leadership administrator for the college with local community groups and organizations.

NATURE & SCOPE:

  1. The Community Campus Manager provides day-to-day supervision of assigned Community Campus staff and works collaboratively with leaders and managers in other college departments to provide consistent direction on work functions, processes, and standards. This may include supervising staff in a matrix reporting structure.
  2. The Community Campus Manager is responsible for developing a productive, inclusive, and collaborative Community Campus team, including employees who may report to different supervisors.
  3. To ensure the campus operates effectively, the Community Campus Manager fosters communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all departments across the college. This includes developing effective working relationships with leaders and managers across the College.
  4. The Community Campus Manager liaises with and maintains relationships with Indigenous Rights Holders, the local community, municipal and regional governments, educational and economic partners, and local employers.
  5. Through effective relationship building, the Community Campus Manager acts as a conduit of information used to identify educational opportunities and programs for the communities supported by the campus.
  6. The Community Campus Manager is involved in community initiatives and represents the campus at community events.
  7. Working with relevant college departments, the Community Campus Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating campus events. This includes organizing and leading campus working groups to plan and deliver campus events.
  8. The Community Campus Manager is the leadership position that champions and supports the College through the facilitation of campus-specific and college information sharing with prospective and current students, members of the public, employees, departments, and external organizations. This requires a broad knowledge and understanding of college programs, services, departments, and policies and procedures.
  9. The Community Campus Manager collaboratively works with all Schools within the institution, but specifically the School of Access and Continuing Education in support of providing educational opportunities, supports, and experiences to learners within the communities that the campus supports.
  10. The Community Campus Manager monitors campus services and recommends improvements for operational procedures to support effective and efficient service delivery.
  11. The Community Campus Manager is responsible for the financial management of the assigned Community Campus, including operational and project budgets as well as oversight of financial transactions within alignment of college financial directions.
  12. The Community Campus Manager will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.
  13. The Community Campus Manager will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students, colleagues, Rights Holders, the community, and education partners.

Specific Duties:

  1. Manages all aspects of Community Campus operations, in consultation with functional departments to support high levels of service with a student-centric approach.
  2. In collaboration with other administrators as appropriate, responsible for recruitment, hiring, and supervision of assigned campus staff.
  3. Collaborates with other administrators as required where functional reporting may occur in order to support employee training, engagement, workload allocations, development, and evaluation of staff.
  4. Responsible for ensuring that the campus delivers excellent service to students, employees, and the public. This requires regular communication and on-going collaboration with other departments and community campuses across the institution to share information, practices, and ensures appropriate training for employees.
  5. Creates a collaborative, respectful, and empowered work and student environment within a positive team culture.
  6. Implements strategic and operational directives from senior leadership and managing these initiatives for optimum results.
  7. Engages with and fosters relationships with Indigenous Rights Holders, community, industry partners, small business, government, Indigenous advisory committees, local school districts, secondary schools, and non-profit partners to develop beneficial relationships and strategic partnerships.
  8. In collaboration with Educational Administrators (Deans, Directors and Associate Deans), assists in identifying community educational needs to inform current and future program offerings.
  9. Represents the College at community meetings and events and prepares presentations and activities where appropriate.
  10. Supports College leaders with the logistics and coordination of community engagement groups, activities, and events.
  11. Collaborates with Deans and Associate Deans, when requested, in developing the logistics of delivery of educational programs to meet the needs of Rights Holders, partners, and community.
  12. Ensures complaints, concerns, and suggestions are addressed expeditiously by following College policy procedures. This includes complaints from students, employees, partners, and the community. This involves making appropriate referrals to Deans, Directors, or other administrators where required.
  13. In consultation with the Director of Student Services, responds to and manages student non-academic misconduct incidents at the campus as per College policies and procedures.
  14. Collaborates with Marketing & Events on the promotion of campus programs, activities, and events.
  15. Responsible for developing and managing the campus’ operational and project-specific budgets and overseeing financial transactions as per College procedures.
  16. Assists the academic schools and the Office of the Registrar to produce academic timetables for the campus as per College policy and procedures.
  17. Ensures College employees are familiar with the relevant health and safety regulations and receive proper instruction in safe work practices, accident prevention and chairs the campus’ Joint Health & Safety committee.
  18. Participates on assigned or relevant committees as required by the College.
  19. Co-leads with Facilities Services to ensure the campus’ premises are maintained in accordance with lease agreements and relevant legislation to ensure the safety and well-being of employees and users.
  20. When requested, represents the College in negotiations with unions associations, external agencies, and partners.
  21. Other duties as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (Education or Business Administration preferred)
  2. Five (5) years related operational management and/or supervisory experience
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  4. Working knowledge of post-secondary systems, policy, and processes is strongly preferred
  5. Commitment to excellent student/participant experience and institutional integrity
  6. Experience in Project Management and community relations required
  7. An ability to motivate and engage a community through inclusive practices and superior communication skills
  8. Demonstrated high-quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents
  9. Manage conflict and change in ways that contribute to the long-term viability of the campus and maintains productive relationships
  10. Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal culture and history within communities, with proven leadership in engaging Aboriginal communities
  11. Broad understanding of program and service accountability framework
  12. Excellent, proven organizational skills
  13. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven problem-solving skills in complex situations
  14. Demonstrated collaborative leadership abilities
  15. Articulated management philosophy that is in alignment with the guiding principles
  16. Demonstrated senior administrative skills in areas of finance, human resources, and facilities
  17. Understanding of best practices related to strategic enrolment management preferred
  18. Proficient in appropriate technological applications including word-processing, spreadsheet & database construction, electronic social media, web-based communication, and research; knowledge of ICM system strongly preferred
  19. Strong negotiation skills
  20. Experience managing in a unionized environment
