Communications Liaison Lead

As a key member of the NCIME operations team, the Communications and Liaison Lead will provide expert communication advice to the CEO, Board of Directors and organization. They will serve as the lead liaison with the Elders and Knowledge Keepers Circle and support and/or lead community engagement while overseeing NCIME’s communication plan. Reporting to the CEO, the incumbent is responsible for executing and monitoring company communication strategies, annual reports, drafting media responses, quarterly newsletters, and email and social media campaigns. The Communications and Liaison Lead is also responsible for tracking and reporting analytics for campaigns to determine the most effective strategies for disseminating NCIME information, news and events.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for NCIME communications (partnership/funding announcements, annual reports, power points, newsletters, campaigns, website, and social media).
• Develop and execute NCIME communication plans, monitor metrics, and handle media inquiries.
• Respond to project-related inquiries and provide content/education support in collaboration with the academic team.
• Provide expert advice to the NCIME Team on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples engagement.
• Build relationships to support NCIME's mandate and the Academic Advisory Council.
• Revise and implement the Stakeholder Engagement Plan and initiatives.
• Engage with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit stakeholders and organizations.
• Foster collaboration within NCIME Communities of Practice and knowledge sharing among the Partnership Circle.
• Ensure a consistent and positive message for community involvement.
• Advise and support NCIME leadership in partnerships and collaborations to enhance project success.
• Serve as lead for the Elders and Knowledge Keepers Circle.
• Attend and present at meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
• Assist the CEO with core partner liaison, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on industry trends, manage media relations, and support publicity activities.

Qualifications

• Tangible and demonstrated connection with your (Inuit, Métis, First Nations) community
• Demonstrated knowledge of health professions education; medicine preferred.
• Experience working across government, healthcare, Indigenous communities, organizations and academia
• Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous health in Canada, which includes understanding the impacts of colonization, racism, social determinants, legislation and policies on the health of Indigenous Peoples
• Strong sense of Indigenous rights, justice, equity and accountability
• Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• A post-secondary education in communications, journalism, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years’ experience in a communications role and experience in Indigenous health
• Experience in overseeing the development and coordination of large communications projects involving multiple partners and perspectives is an asset
