Description

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) is a global leader in energy and environmental products and services for power and industrial markets. Our Akron, Ohio headquarters is seeking an Intern/Co-op to join our Communications & Marketing team. The internship will provide an educational, hands-on experience to students pursuing careers in Communications under the guidance of the Director, Communications & Marketing.

This is a Spring 2025 intern/co-op position. The selected candidate must commit to working part-time (16 hours/week) during the Spring semester.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit internal and external communications including announcements, video scripts, briefing documents, newsletters, and related materials.
• Develop material for and update the company’s internal and external websites.
• Assist with special events planning and community relations activities.
• Support other Communications & Marketing department initiatives and activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year program, working towards a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
• Current GPA of 3.0 or higher, preferred.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Have demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• The ideal candidate must be able to successfully manage a number of priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Capacity to handle confidential information.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
