We are seeking a temporary Communications Coordinator to provide support in-person for eight weeks in developing and executing a full range of communication services. This position will work under the supervision of senior staff and will report to a Director of Marketing and Communications. The successful candidate will also be mentored by this senior role. The consultant contributes as a full Jewish Federation of Edmonton team member, actively supporting achievement of the mandate, outcomes and deliverables of marketing and communications. The consultant will work on a variety of different projects, plus participate in strategic communications planning and implementation, crisis communications and issues management.

Marketing and Communications is a strategic function dedicated to advancing the Jewish Federation of Edmonton's mission, vision, values, and brand. Marketing and Communications goals are to build and activate brand value/reputation; cultivate support for the Federation's business strategies; expand partnerships with Edmonton Jewish organizations; and foster best practices and effective communications.
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates and manages identified tasks in relation to electronic and print publications and collateral production (including design, photography, printing, writing, editing, proofing, and evaluation).
- Content development through multimedia tools, including video, audio productions, graphics (using programs like Canva) and visualizations of program data and information.
- Work with colleagues to tell the Jewish Federation of Edmonton's story, including through sponsorships, programs, and events.
- Provides general communications support to team members.
- Researches, interviews, writes, and edits internal/external communication documents with guidance as requested.
- Actively participates and contributes as an engaged member of the Communications team to the planning, implementation, and assessment of internal/external communication projects.
- Provides tactical and communication services support for projects in relation to the Jewish Federation of Edmonton's strategic plan.
- Assists in the development and execution of corporate communications plans and activities as required.
- Works with the Federation team to support event planning and implementation including the Israeli Pavilion at the Edmonton Heritage Festival.
- Supports social media efforts as requested.
Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
- A current post-secondary student or recent graduate in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, broadcasting or English.
- Experience coordinating advertising, publications, and events.
- Knowledge of emerging media, social media, and technical solutions supporting enhanced effectiveness of tools like the external website.
- Good understanding of the communication planning process.
- Self-starter who can bring creativity and innovation to the role.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of marketing, communications, public relations, economics, business.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Strong consulting, project management, and organizational skills.
- Adept problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Innovative and energetic; presents ideas effectively.
- Confident, solutions-driven, adaptable.
- Strong, effective, and creative communicator - both written and oral.
- Ability to provide accurate, error free and professional communication services in all mediums.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe suite of products an asset, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; and the Microsoft Teams environment; and Canva.
- Membership in a professional association such as IABC or CPRS is an asset.
- Candidate does not have to be Jewish to work for our organization and knowledge of the Edmonton Jewish community is an asset.
