Title: Communications & Development Coordinator
Reporting to: Donor Experience and Communications Manager
Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 annual salary
Position Summary:

Reporting to the Donor Experience and Communications Manager, and working closely with the Leadership team, the Communications & Development Coordinator will develop and champion the Peterborough Humane Society’s marketing, communications and fundraising strategies. The Communications & Development Coordinator will be community-centred, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. They will demonstrate a positive attitude that supports the mission, vision and goals of the Peterborough Humane Society.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate marketing, public relations, and communications efforts with partners, supporters, staff, volunteers, and the broader community.
- Develop and execute strategies for social media, website management, and email communications, including e-newsletters and stewardship campaigns.
- Maintain brand standards for all Peterborough Humane Society materials.
- Utilize graphic design and video editing skills to produce engaging and emotional content for marketing initiatives.
- Write compelling copy for various platforms, including newsletters, website updates, and press releases.
- Build and manage relationships with local media, including key messaging and storytelling.
- Collaborate with the Fund Development and Marketing team to develop and execute yearly fundraising targets.
- Support event planning and execution.
- Monitor marketing metrics and analysis to evaluate ROI and success, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant social media trends to create compelling content.
- Ensure high-quality, friendly service for both internal and external partners, demonstrating strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Perform other duties as needed to support organizational goals.
The successful applicant will have:
- Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) in marketing, communications, or fundraising roles.
- Proficiency in graphic design, video editing, website management (WordPress).
- Expertise in managing social media platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and digital tools (Canva, Constant Contact, etc.).
- Experience with Meta Ads Manager preferred.
- Familiarity with customer relationship management databases such as CanadaHelps.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Comfort around domestic animals of all types and some general knowledge of responsible pet ownership.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as events and campaigns require.
Considered Assets:
- Education in marketing, communications, fundraising, public relations, or related field.
- Experience working for a non-profit organization, preferably in communications, marketing, fundraising or community relations.
- Grant and foundation application writing experience.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
