Overview
The Sport Information Resource Centre is looking for an enthusiastic individual for the position of Communication and Marketing Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a critical role in achieving SIRC’s strategic priorities as they relate to growing the sport network throughout the country, to enhance collaboration, and sharing of knowledge excellence.

- Compensation: Remuneration commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
Guided by the Communication and Marketing Manager, the Communication and Marketing Coordinator supports the SIRC Strategic Plan in areas related to marketing, communications, and operational activities.
Marketing
- Assists with the creation, scheduling and publication of content and campaigns for SIRC’s website, event calendar, and social media channels.
- Acts as primary editor of SIRC’s public-facing Canadian Sport Daily newsletter by coordinating, uploading and proofing content, design and distribution.
- Assists with SIRC’s website development and managing of the day-to-day relationship with the supplier of SIRC’s web services.
Communications
- Actively participates in SIRC’s media relations efforts, including writing news releases and responding to media requests.
- Maintains a database and helps to grow the network within Canada of sport organizations, sport leaders, scholars, officials, and participants available to SIRC, and develops applications for their support.
- Assists in the production, support and distribution of publications, webinars, podcasts, conferences etc.
- Supports the collection and management of SIRC’s photo and digital asset database.
- Monitors the organization’s general email inbox and directs inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
- Supports SIRC staff in the development and distribution of communications related to various projects and initiatives.
Other
- Perform administrative tasks to support all programs and services.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in sport management, business, communications or marketing.
- A minimum of one to two years’ experience in a similar role.
- Highly effective planning and organization skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently during periods of high stress.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently.
- Experience with social media platforms (X-Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), website content management systems (WordPress) and email marketing software (MailChimp).
- Knowledge of graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Bilingual proficiency (French and English).
- Passion for amateur sport and knowledge of the Canadian sport landscape.
Working Conditions
- This is a permanent, full-time position with a hybrid work model.
- The selected candidate will ideally be based in the Ottawa area, and/or able to work 3-5 days/week in Ottawa at the House of Sport.
- This position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
- This position requires occasional travel to attend meetings and events, as well as some evening and weekend work.
