The Nuclear Business Unit at AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Commercial Manager who thrives on teamwork with a strong desire to deliver for both internal and external clients.
We are looking for someone who has experience in the Engineering, Manufacturing, or Construction sector and enjoys a variety of work including the delivery of commercial solutions and improvement initiatives. With a desire to work in the Nuclear and Power sector, you'll enjoy approaching things in different ways to find the best possible fit - you like making improvements and consider different approaches, trying to find the best fit for the current context.

In an evolving energy market, where the business is growing, we are seeking a Commercial Manager who can be at the forefront of leading and supporting the business in achieving its goals while managing and balancing business risk. The role requires access to confidential information to support medium and long-term financial analysis and planning.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
- Collaborates with proposal teams in the proposal strategy development and in the preparation and review of proposals, commercial contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements.
- Acts as the point of contact to the Client for contractual matters. Must be able to deal with the client on delicate matters tactfully and professionally while protecting all AtkinsRéalis’ interests.
- Liaises with and provides guidance on contract matters to the project team at all levels.
- Reviews, negotiates, and drafts project commercial agreements, including confidentiality agreements, purchase orders, contracts, consortium agreements, and joint venture agreements, considering their practical application and inherent risk.
- Identifies and analyses potential commercial risks and liabilities associated with proposals, ongoing projects, and supplier agreements.
- Interfaces with internal stakeholders as required, including technical, risk assessment, legal, cost estimating, insurance, bond, taxation, treasury, and finance functions.
- Provides commercial support in contract administration and in the preparation of narratives and entitlement documentation and the resolution of claims.
- Works closely with the procurement manager to ensure flow down of the prime contract terms to other related contracts on ongoing projects.
- Provides presentations and workshops, as required, to employees regarding contract administration, including corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines, change, and delay management.
- Assists project teams in understanding and interpreting contract language.
- Attends steering committee meetings between AtkinsRéalis and other partners and prepares minutes of meetings recording agreed decisions and actions going forward.

The ideal candidate:
- University degree in Law, with 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role in construction and/or alternative dispute resolution.
- Formal training in contract law or experience in contract management.
- Experience in Intellectual Property Management.
- Candidates admitted to the Ontario Bar will be preferred.
- Experience in commercial governance, bidding, contract management, and project delivery.
- Proven ability to organize, set priorities, and handle multiple complex tasks at one time consistent with corporate processes.
- Experience in communicating with various stakeholder groups from internal project staff to clients, subcontractors, and the executive team.
- Understanding of client and client organizations, objectives, personnel, and environments.
- Proven track record with claims management and dispute resolution on major projects.
- Superior communication and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take the initiative.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively present information at both detail and summary levels and the ability to interact with executive management and operational level staff.
- Basic understanding of insurance program requirements for various Project types and the ability to advise on the suitability of corporate programs vs project-specific requirements.
