We are seeking innovative, customer-focused people to join our team! Our Insurance Preferred Service Centre located at Lougheed Mall in Burnaby is currently hiring for:

Commercial Lines Insurance Specialist

This position will require the insurance specialists to utilize their knowledge of insurance policies and markets to evaluate, recommend and sell plans to customers based on their needs. It will involve communicating with customers to match the customer’s needs, processing paperwork, and ensuring existing customer information is up to date.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  1. Service on-going client needs, advise on insurance matters, conduct needs assessment, recommend solutions, answer inquiries, conduct care calls and including but not limited to process renewals, endorsements, cancellations, certificates, binders etc.
  2. Sell new policies/write new business to existing or new clients, retain existing book of business.
  3. Ensure that all new business quotes/policies are accurately recorded on the most current new business report, including lead information.
  4. Prepare documentation for insurers, complete applications for clients, issue insurance certificates, process changes and review renewals.
  5. Keep current on underwriting rules and workflow processes.
  6. Manage accounts receivables and financed premium flows.
  7. Ensure all transactions are recorded and that all payments are properly applied.
  8. Provide and maintain all records and/or reports required.
  9. Provide assistance to management on special projects or any other tasks as assigned.
  10. Attend product knowledge seminars as directed by the Commercial Lines Manager and Business Unit.
  11. Ensure license is maintained in good standing and all necessary continuing education credits are obtained.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  1. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, vendors, staff and management.
  2. Strong selling skills.
  3. Strong technical knowledge.
  4. Professional image, reflecting positively on the company.
  5. Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
  6. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, both in person and on the telephone.
  7. Isolate and solve problems.
  8. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  9. Sound judgment when dealing with customers, confidential information and sensitive situations.

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Hold a Level II insurance license or hold a Level I insurance license, have passed either CAIB II or CAIB III, and is working towards their Level II license.
  2. Knowledge of desktop PCs and Windows-based operating systems.
  3. Proficient with Word and Excel.
  4. Ability to use all relevant software related to the Insurance Call Centre.
  5. Past experience in commercial insurance sales and brokerage operations.
  6. In-depth knowledge of insurance products, however focusing on Commercial Lines and related product offering, services and regulations.

This is a Full-time Position. Employees must be available to work a flexible schedule, 40 hours per week Monday through Sunday, day and evening shifts.
