Greenfoot Energy Solutions is looking for Commercial HVAC technicians to join our Moncton NB team as we continue to grow and expand.
A Commercial HVAC Technician specializes in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems used in commercial buildings such as offices, schools, hospitals, warehouses, and other large-scale facilities. These systems are often much more complex and require a higher level of expertise than residential HVAC systems due to the size, capacity, and unique needs of commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Installing new HVAC systems or retrofitting existing ones to meet the specific needs of commercial spaces.
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance to ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently and have a long lifespan. This includes changing filters, cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting ductwork.
- Repairs: Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning HVAC systems, which could involve diagnosing problems with electrical systems, compressors, thermostats, or refrigeration circuits.
- System Calibration: Ensuring HVAC systems are properly calibrated to optimize energy use and maintain consistent indoor temperatures and air quality.
- Energy Efficiency: Advising commercial clients on energy-saving options and implementing changes to improve system efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Compliance: Ensuring all HVAC work meets local, state, and federal regulations, including safety codes and environmental guidelines regarding refrigerant management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, including refrigeration cycles, electrical components, and ductwork.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of mechanical and electrical issues quickly and effectively.
- Certification: Red Seal or a recognized apprentice.
- Physical Stamina: The work can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding of safety protocols, including how to handle hazardous materials, operate tools, and protect oneself in potentially dangerous work environments.
Tools and Equipment Used:
- Manifold gauge set for checking refrigerant levels.
- Multimeter to check electrical components.
- Leak detectors to find refrigerant leaks.
- Wrenches, screwdrivers, and hand tools for disassembling and assembling components.
- Vacuum pumps for evacuating air from the system.
- Thermometers and pressure gauges for testing system performance.
