Job Duties:
- Support the day-to-day activities of the Hydro One Waste Hub which manages the waste requirements of all Hydro One Line of Businesses across the province.
- Process administrative information and perform data processing assignments for work group to produce reports and correspondence, including the input, output, verification, maintaining and updating of data using several different computer programs, such as SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
- Work with various external Suppliers and internal clients with regards to administrative activities involved with the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste and related contracts. Process invoices and service requests. Follow up on missing information with clients and Suppliers, as required.
- Keep abreast of changes and legislation impacting the waste disposal industry, technologies, trends and alternatives. Assist in the development of specifications and descriptions of desired services, to be used to contract services.
- Assist in the documentation and review of procedural documents and training packages related to wastes.
- Set up an organized filing system (digital and paper based) and maintain files containing copies of pertinent documents. Retain documents for periods required by law and company policy.
Selection Criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year Environmental Technology/Technician Program at the College level. Curriculum of this program should be focused on but not limited to Environmental Principles/Techniques (Environmental Site Assessments, Sampling and Monitoring), Waste Management processes, Spill Response, Water Pollution Treatment Control/process and Statistics Analysis.
- Will hold a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with strong consulting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), SAP, etc. is an asset.
Skills you will develop:
- Business and waste management analysis experience.
- Experience supporting programs and projects for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
- Develop strong time management and organizational skills.
- Develop knowledge of current Environmental Regulations including Ontario Regulations 347, 406, and 558.
