The Special Projects Manager (SPM) reports to the Executive Director, Operations & Administration in the School of Continuing Studies. The SPM is expected to provide guidance and coordination to several large-scale technology projects, including the School's project to construct a new building. The SPM will provide professional project management and analytical expertise in support of all phases of both projects, including oversight, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and successful completion consistent with the organizational and business goals of the School.

Education:

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Computer Science, Engineering).

Experience:

Proven ability to oversee the overall development and implementation of large-scale IT projects, including leading project teams in both physical and virtual environments.

Skills:

  1. Proven IT project management skills including research, planning, organizational skills, and budget preparation.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of ERP, CRM, e-business, open source, and custom applications.
  3. Ability to identify and make recommendations for additional resources and ensure appropriate resource levels are maintained throughout the project life cycle.
  4. Ability to work under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines for various projects.
  5. Exceptional analytical, evaluative, and technical problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent research, presentation, and report writing skills.
  7. Strong ability and willingness to work effectively as a team leader and team member.
  8. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  9. Ability to effectively navigate a professional and political climate while maintaining confidentiality.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal calmly and effectively with people.
  11. Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with a wide range of contacts.
  12. Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and Project Management software applications (MS Project, Wrike).
  13. Willingness to learn new systems, technologies, and project management methods and tools.
