What role you will play in our team
Cold Lake’s Indigenous Internship Program is an opportunity for local Indigenous candidates to gain practical, hands-on work experience at our Cold Lake operation. Interns will be trained and mentored in a supportive work environment.
A Plant Operator position through the Indigenous Internship Program is available at Imperial's Cold Lake, Alberta location. This is an excellent opportunity to progress towards Power Engineering certification. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring, sampling and troubleshooting process equipment for the assigned units.
What you will do
- While working under the supervision of an experienced mentor you will perform various duties as required by your select area of employment following all Imperial Safety, Security, Health & Environmental (SSHE) policies.
- Maintain the housekeeping standard for the shop and work areas.
- Focus on "Best Practices" implementation and development.
- Rotate through field and plant units.
- Participate in the proactive safety program.
- Take responsibility for costs within area of control.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
- Depending on the position, commitment to obtaining a 4th Class or 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and comfortable driving a pick-up truck.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Work term: A one-year paid internship with possibility of a one-year extension.
