Job Title: CNC Team Leader

Job Summary

The CNC Team Leader will oversee a team responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machinery. This role focuses on ensuring the smooth operation of CNC equipment, meeting production goals, and improving processes. The Team Leader will guide and mentor the team, manage workflow, and collaborate closely with other departments to maintain a high level of production efficiency and quality whilst fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Team Coordination and Leadership
    • Schedule daily tasks and allocate resources effectively to meet production goals.
    • Supervise and lead a team of CNC machine operators, providing training, support, and development opportunities.
  2. Production Oversight
    • Monitor machining processes to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime.
    • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize daily production activities to ensure deadlines and targets are met.
  3. Quality Assurance
    • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure product integrity.
    • Conduct regular inspections of finished products and adjust processes as necessary.
  4. Training and Development
    • Train new team members on CNC operations, safety protocols, and best practices.
    • Review the detailed records kept by operators to identify skill gaps or areas for improvement and suggest training programs accordingly.
    • Promote continuous skill development through ongoing training sessions.
  5. Safety Management
    • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the team.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  6. Equipment Maintenance
    • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
    • Coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  7. Reporting and Documentation
    • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, machine performance, and quality control data.
    • Prepare reports for management regarding production efficiency and team performance.
  8. Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to streamline processes and resolve issues.
    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss production schedules and capacity planning.
  9. Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices.
    • Lead initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.


Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in CNC machining and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and quality control practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of CAMPLUS platform (MasterCam is an equivalency).
  • Ability to navigate a computer and certain platforms (i.e. Microsoft, Excel, etc.).
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a CNC Operator.
  • DEP in Machinery.
  • AEC in CNC.
