In business since 1991, we run medium to small production projects in our air-conditioned facility that is conveniently located in Cambridge.

Position Summary:

The CNC Programmer/Setter is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to perform various tasks such as drilling, milling, and turning. This role requires a combination of technical skills, precision, and problem-solving abilities to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Develop and input CNC programs based on technical drawings and specifications using software such as Mastercam or AutoCAD.
2. Set up CNC machines, including selecting and installing the appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials.
3. Operate CNC machines to produce parts, ensuring that all operations are performed accurately and efficiently.
4. Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
5. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure they are operating correctly and troubleshoot any issues that arise during production.
6. Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum 5+ years experience as a CNC Programmer/Setter in a manufacturing environment.

Required Skills & Expertise:

1. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CNC programs.
2. Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code.
3. Understands complex datum structures, including those for large weldments.
4. Advanced work-holding for large components.
5. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues.
6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
7. Ability to lift and move heavy materials and tools (up to 50 lbs).

Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:

1. Measuring tools and instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments.
2. 3, 4 and 5-Axis CNC machines.
