CNC Machine Operator
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of the CNC machine. He/she will report directly to the supervisor on all matters. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Education
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Technology is preferred.
Years of Experience
1 Year + of CNC machine operating/programmer is considered an asset
Working Conditions
Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
On-site work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures and precautions.
Work environment requires having construction safety footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Have a high level of social interaction. Work with other technicians, programmers, and general labourers.
Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment.
Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read blueprints and recognize symbols and specifications.
Knowledge of industry safety practices.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to write and communicate in English clearly and effectively.
Knowledge of processes and practices of machining and familiarity with automated machinery required.
Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment.
Knowledge in the use of precision measuring instruments (verniers).
Job Specific Duties
Read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans to develop and design projects.
Act as a shift supervisor.
Responsible for loading, running, and modifying existing CNC programs.
Responsible for completing "first off" inspection per component drawings.
Responsible for ensuring identification process for components of manufacturing process documentation.
Responsible for closing the plant at the end of the shift.
Responsible for supervision of junior staff (machine helpers).
Responsible for maintaining equipment, general housekeeping, and determining if repairs or new equipment is needed.
Work independently and requires little supervision.
