What the job entails (overview)

This is your opportunity to provide leadership that embraces a culture promoting customer service, teamwork, and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service experiences for our members and customers. The Clinical Pharmacist position plays an essential role in the quality and safety of our patients’ medications. You will report to the Pharmacy Director and will be responsible for providing pharmacy clinical and patient management services to Calgary Co-op members and other patients.

Where you’ll be focusing (your day to day):

  1. Providing all professional services within the Alberta Health Pharmacy Services Framework.
  2. Promote, organize and conduct in-store clinic days or public forums in pharmacy areas of practice.
  3. Training and development of other pharmacists in a certification area of practice.
  4. Presentations to team members, patients or external community liaisons.
  5. Provide pharmacy department programs to meet sales objectives for professional services rendered.
  6. Promote marketing and adherence programs to increase pharmacy department sales.
  7. Promote specialized services and pharmacists within local healthcare environments.
  8. Assist in the development and/or organization of continuing education events for pharmacy staff.
  9. Assist with development of protocols and best practices for certified pharmacy staff.
  10. Responsible for a minimum of eight centres.
  11. Will be scheduled to provide clinical services at centers based on operational needs.
  12. Communicate details of programs and pharmacy staff responsibilities.
  13. Develop future certified pharmacists.
  14. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal professional standards and regulations.
  15. Participate in the development and action of yearly competency performance work plan(s).

What you will need (Requirements):

  1. Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc. or Pharm. D.).
  2. Licensed and registered with Alberta College of Pharmacists.
  3. Minimum of 1 year experience as a licensed pharmacist.
  4. Authorization to Administer Medications by Injection.
  5. Knowledge of provincial, federal, and company policies and procedures.
  6. Administration skills, including planning and organizing, resource management.
  7. Customer relations skills.
  8. Reading, oral, listening, and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to work different schedules to meet store and customer needs.
  10. Stress tolerance and adaptability.
  11. Interpersonal skills including building relationships and conflict resolution.
  12. Drive for results.
  13. Certification and experience as a certified pharmacist educator (desirable).
  14. Certification for Additional Prescribing Authority (desirable).
  15. Certified Educator (desirable).
  16. Developing, mentoring and coaching skills (desirable).

Hourly rates start at $53/hour and go upwards based on your experience.
