Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Regional Manager or designate, the Clinical Nurse Practice Lead enacts quality improvement initiatives and sustainment activities related to designated technological enablers of clinical care throughout Mental Health & Substance use (MHSU) Programs and Services. Leads and promotes the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that support evidence-based clinical practices and clinical decision-making. Works in collaboration with colleagues, clinical leaders, program managers, physicians and corporate teams to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of assigned clinical initiatives.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a minimum of five (5) years experience in a range of MHSU health care environments as well as experience using related computer technology, clinical change management, and practice support for teams. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.

Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing, with exceptional business writing and editorial abilities, including attention to detail.
  • Ability to model organizational values and vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and organize workload in order to plan and complete both small and large-scale initiatives including the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Advanced computer skills required including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Health Information systems.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge regarding electronic enablers for health care delivery including knowledge of Human Factors, data quality considerations, enterprise architecture, privacy and security considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply Change Management and Project Management methodologies.
  • Experience leading and coordinating working groups, building relationships and achieving consensus-based decision-making among a variety of individuals.
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning principles and the ability to integrate into programs and strategies.
