Work Location: Thunder Bay
As the Clinical Manager, you provide the effective & efficient operation and administration of Quality Nursing Services by ensuring and promoting the provision of resident-centered services to meet the needs of residents.
This role reports to the Director of Nursing and has the following accountabilities:
- Provides direct supervision to Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers in the Nursing Section including the recruitment, hiring, orientation, evaluation, discipline, and discharge and performance management.
- Participates in facility strategic planning to align the nursing department in response to internal and external environmental challenges.
- Assists the Director of Nursing in interpreting and achieving the Homes’ strategic plan and long-term goals.
- Acts as a clinical resource to Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses and other nursing staff.
- Supports and promotes quality improvement with a focus on continuous engagement in surveillance, auditing and best practice.
Ideal Candidate:
- Nursing diploma/degree with a current unrestricted certificate of competence (registration in good standing) from the College of Nurses of Ontario; or
- Registered nurse together with a minimum of three years’ clinical experience.
- A background in nursing management is preferred.
- Must be able to effectively direct and motivate personnel.
- Must be at a basic skill level in word processing.
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Knowledge of long-term care and gerontology would be an asset.
