We currently have an opportunity for a Clinical Lead in the Mental Health & Addictions Program.

How Clinical Lead support our teams at Grand River Hospital:

In alignment with Grand River Hospital’s mission, vision and values, the Mental Health and Addictions program provides exceptional care through inspired people, innovative initiatives, and strong partnerships in the communities we serve.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Adult Inpatient Mental Health, the Clinical Lead is responsible for assisting with daily operations of Adult Inpatient Mental Health and EAU/Crisis including but not limited to staffing, scheduling assignments, procedure changes, ensuring a safe work environment, change management, orientation, education and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages staffing and onboarding of new staff
  • Manages and develops orientation requirements in collaboration with EPL in accordance with evolving ministry guidance
  • Develops change management strategies to create efficient workflows for all clinical teams
  • Manages daily operations including workflow, staffing resources, facilities, and supply requirements
  • Reports to the Clinical Manager of the Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit and works collaboratively with the MHAP and corporate leadership team (VP clinical services, program director, clinical managers, Chief & Medical Directors in Psychiatry, infection control/infectious disease, public health consultant, facilities, distribution)
  • Support employee recruitment, selection, retention, and professional development
  • Anticipates emergent and future issues/changes and provides leadership and vision in short- and long- term planning; contributes to strategic planning at all levels
  • Provides leadership in the development of quality improvement and clinical services planning, completes gap analysis and leads program planning proposals with oversight from the Program Director
  • Participates in monthly / quarterly budget reviews with the program and medical directors to identify issues that may affect a balanced portfolio budget. Collaborates with the program leadership team in the ongoing review and analysis of the finances within the program to ensure adherence to the operating plan targets.
  • Coaches and mentors team members in the provision of safe, quality care through vehicles such as patient care conferences, unit councils, team meetings and on-unit rounds
  • Supports and monitors the development of performance management and improvement plans
At Grand River Hospital, The Clinical Lead Has:
  • Graduate of a regulated healthcare program; nursing preferred
  • Member in good standing with a regulated professional college
  • 5+ years of clinical experience preferred in Mental Health & Addictions
  • Strong communicator and proven ability to facilitate timely resolution of patient and family issues in collaboration with the team
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to patient-focused care philosophy including recovery principles in mental health and addictions
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead effective multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work with frontline staff to identify, promote and resolve quality issues
  • Demonstrated leadership in change management processes for quality improvement and system advancement
  • Experience using computer software programs, e.g., Cerner expertise, MS Word, Excel and electronic mail
