As the Clinical Coordinator for Public Health, you will be providing clinical leadership, clinical supervision and subject matter expertise to the Public Health team in Yellowknife, N’Dilo and Dettah. You will ensure safe and effective patient care and nursing practice. You will provide clinical education and mentorship to nursing staff in accordance with established standards and nursing practice, required organizational practices and Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority policies. You will ensure that the physical, emotional, psycho-social, cultural, spiritual and educational needs of the patient are met and lead the evaluation of the patient and family experience at Public Health. You will primarily focus on public health programming supervision, perform clinical duties when needed; and model and promote excellence through the demonstration of clinical best practices with patients in collaboration with Public Health Nurses (PHNs). You will provide support to the staff with complex, difficult or unusual situations. As an educator, resource and mentor, you will help guide PHNs from task orientation to more empowered analytical thinking and care-giving approaches. You will provide mentorship and training to new staff while ensuring continuing education is promoted to all staff to encourage professional growth of self and others.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by the successful completion of a Nursing Degree, and three (3) years of recent nursing experience with at least two (2) years of experience in a Public Health/Community Health setting and six (6) months of supervisory experience.
