The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) Divisions of Cardiology invite applications from outstanding Cardiologists with expertise in Clinical Cardiology for a full-time position. Candidates with an additional focused interest in women’s heart health will be considered more favorably. This position is primarily based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) in conjunction with a potential clinical role at St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), both of which are University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospitals.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and teaching skills; a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students; a proven record of excellence in teaching. Candidates should have a strong track record of being able to work well in teams. Clinical responsibilities include supporting the Leslie Diamond Women’s Heart Health Centre as a principal commitment in addition to general cardiology coverage at Vancouver General Hospital. Candidates with additional other expertise will also be considered depending on the needs of the Division.
This role will also be a clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and teaching programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine.
The Division operates an academic practice plan, which the successful candidate is expected to contribute to, and be eligible to receive a supplementary stipend for exceptional academic contribution.
