CLINICAL ASSISTANT

(CASUAL)

A casual Clerical Clinical Assistant to IPU, Surgical Services and ER managers is available at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

This is a non-union position.

Key Responsibilities

• Departmental scheduling and staffing which includes creating schedules, managing staff absent calls, shift changes, scheduling staff for patient escorts.
• Payroll completion and adjustment.
• Managing staff education files, organizing staff education events.
• Supporting oncology with clerical duties.
• Committee support for GMCH and WHCA - taking minutes, managing policy and procedure at the direction of the manager and committee.
• Administrative duties/tasks as assigned by Patient Care Managers.
• Ministry reporting.

• General education, minimum High School Diploma; College education in an administrative field is preferred.
• Medical terminology course required.
• General clerical skills and computer literacy; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Meditech preferred.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage creating, updating, and changing Nursing and Communication Clerk schedules.
• Thorough understanding of bargaining unit Collective Agreements (especially call-in procedures and scheduling).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient at WHCA payroll system and ability to enter, change, and adjust payroll for staff.
• Understanding of policy and procedure templates, Patient Care order templates, and medical directive templates.
• Satisfactory performance and attendance required.
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date.
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired.
• It is essential the qualified applicant have the above qualifications.

Hours of Work: (subject to change)

• Monday to Friday: 06:30 - 14:30 (on an as needed basis).

Salary: $29.72 to 34.77 per hour.
