The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is the oldest and largest Maritime Museum in Canada. The Museum is a valuable historical, cultural and educational institution.
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is seeking an individual to be part of our Visitor Experience team (VET) who exemplifies service excellence and demonstrates strong communication skills while welcoming and assisting visitors from diverse backgrounds.
In this position, you will act as the first point of contact with the public, providing admissions and reception services. You may also assist in other duties related to interpretive programming as required for museum operations.
This position reports to the Curator of Visitor Experience at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
The ideal candidate will have a high school education plus three (3) years of related experience in a retail or customer service environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
You possess knowledge and strong interest in the cultural and natural history of Nova Scotia and its Museums. You are a self-motivated individual who works well independently and participates fully in a team environment.
You are proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), have excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a busy work environment. Past experience with cash handling using computer-based POS systems is required.

Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Successful candidates must also complete appropriate vulnerable background checks.
This competition is being leveraged to fill one (1) Seasonal vacancy with a projected end date of December 31, 2025 and one (1) TEMPORARY vacancy with an end date of December 31, 2025.
Pay Grade: CL 13
Salary Range: $1,501.11- $1,633.95 Bi-Weekly
