Class 3 Boom Truck Driver

Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. This position will be located out of our facility in Moncton, NB.

Miller Waste Systems is looking for Class 3 Drivers with Air Endorsement. A collaborative but strong nature is essential, and the applicant’s background in trucking and customer service will allow them to be efficient and effective in operating the required equipment to ensure timely curbside collection of residential waste, recycling, and organics within Miller Waste Systems.

Responsibilities:

In the position of Boom Truck Operator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• The safe and efficient operation of various types of equipment and different roles.
• Must be able to operate a boom truck, used to deliver and retrieve bins to and from customer sites.
• Must have excellent knowledge of and be familiar with the towns of Truro, Amherst, Cumberland, and Colchester Counties, and surrounding areas.
• Ensure customers are serviced as per their contractual requirements and schedules.
• Physical ability to open and close heavy bin doors, secure bins with straps and chains, and climb onto the truck to do so, among other duties.
• Meet or exceed performance and productivity expectations through proven results.
• Comply with all Miller Waste Systems and Provincial health and safety policies and procedures.
• Must use a tablet computer to update routes and a radio communication system to speak with dispatch.
• Must be willing to operate other types of equipment and do other roles, such as residential collection, when required based on operational need and equipment availability.

Requirements:

• Clean driver's abstract and no preventable accidents in the past year.
• Must have excellent manual dexterity in order to operate the controls of the truck.
• Successful candidates will have a minimum Class 3 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement.
• Minimum 1 year of experience operating a boom truck will be considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility with your work schedule is necessary as start and end times may vary. Saturdays and Statutory Holidays may be required at times.
• Effective written and verbal communication is required.
• Excellent attendance and performance record.

The successful applicant will be comfortable with prioritization, planning, coordination, and organization, with an ability to respond, adapt, and work safely in changing, high-pressure environments.
