Summary

The Back to Work Coordinator is responsible for liaising with employees, medical consultants, Operations, WCB, and third-party providers in all aspects of claims management for work-related and non-work-related illness and injury.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support and guidance to injured and ill employees, including field and office staff.
  • Submit reports to and correspond with various jurisdictions of the Workers’ Compensation Board.
  • Provide timely responses to the needs of employees, the company, WCB, and third-party providers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with insurance providers.
  • Analyze costs and methods of reduction.
  • Maintain and track daily status of claims.
  • Work closely with Operations and HSE personnel, managing claim status and effectively resolving any issues.
  • Identify accurately and apply industry-standardized incident codes.
  • Document each claim-related conversation with exceptional detail.
  • Provide statistical information to various departments as requested.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, policy, and procedure relating to confidentiality.
  • Support administrative needs of the department and various other duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong word processing proficiency and must be an experienced user of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to professionally manage confidential information.
  • Strong understanding of the cost impact of injuries and illness and the means to reduce these costs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks daily, with strong time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete information pertinent to claims.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where strong follow-up, troubleshooting, and forward-thinking skills are mandatory.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Motivation to further develop skills associated with disability management, including knowledge of WCB policy (various Provinces), as well as Short- and Long-Term Disability policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to diffuse sometimes difficult situations.
  • Ability to document phone conversations as they occur through strong typing skills.
Education

A diploma or degree in a related field would be considered an asset.

Experience

2-5 years' experience in a similar capacity is an asset. Five years of work experience in a professional environment is a must.
