About the role
We're looking for Property Claims Consultant to join our growing team in the West!
As a Property Claims Consultant, you’ll provide expertise and support to the Property COE and any other associated COEs by giving advice to management, providing expertise to assist in the settlement of large and complicated claims files, organizing quality assurance activities, as well as assisting in the training of claims professionals and special projects.
What you'll do here:
Provide consultation on complex and large Personal and Commercial Property claims files, including technical guidance and advice to staff; assess quantum to maintain adequate reserves; complete detailed coverage analysis and reviews; policy interpretation; and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues.
Provide coaching on technical and professional skills for staff and facilitate continuous learning as a Subject Matter Expert.
Provide recommendations to managers to drive operational excellence and indemnity control.
Provide expertise to improve corporate guidelines and programs to effectively manage loss costs and expenses, and for consistent application of claims settlement policies and procedures.
Liaise with other claims experts on technical issues.
Identify training opportunities, assist with development of training plans, deliver group training, and follow-up on training through reminder documents and summaries delivered to participants.
Audit Personal and Commercial Property files to ensure handling benchmarks are met.
Facilitation of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Other duties as assigned. May engage in special projects to improve overall claims technical knowledge in the Property COE.
May handle a limited number of large losses.
What you bring to the table:
10+ property claims experience, including handling of complex and large losses.
Excellent understanding of commercial property claims and policy interpretation.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and computer tools.
Completed or are working toward a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
University degree or college diploma preferred.
Ongoing commitment to self-development.
Leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and coach staff to deliver results.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Self-driven attitude and an advocate of leading change.
Ability to analyze and interpret data to drive innovation.
Maintain productive business relationships and effective communication with other claims teams, underwriting, and vendors.
Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity: $95,400.00 - $143,200.00.
