The FAP (Federal Administered Programs) Unit specializes in the payment of Federal benefits related to health needs such as Ambulance Services, Medical Supplies, Hospital Beds, etc. As a member of the Federal Claims team, the incumbent will adjudicate claims received from Providers and clients and, if necessary, will communicate with the providers to clarify information.


Work Arrangement:

This is a 37.5 hours/week, 3 month term role, the hours are daytime, Monday to Friday. We also offer flexibility in work location if you reside in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and would like to work remotely (from home office). We also have office locations in Moncton, Charlottetown, Dartmouth, St. John's, if you would like to work in office, or a hybrid of both. Start date is between November/December/January with potential to be extended.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews, analyzes, investigates and authorizes payment of health and dental claims within set guidelines;
  2. Corresponds with claimants or agents; Providers and/or customers when required
  3. Handles and processes claims transactions accurately and efficiently (speed and accuracy);
  4. Uses business knowledge and experience to solve routine problems, with the support of senior staff;
  5. Produces clear and effective written materials.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset (Health Information Technology, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Office or Business Administration).
  2. Work Experience: Minimum 6 months work experience in an office environment.
  3. Other Qualifications: Knowledge of claims processing, eligibility and claims systems, as well as medical terminology is considered an asset.
  4. Computer Skills: Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite and Lotus Notes.
  5. Language Skills: Proficient in English; being bilingual is a strong asset.

Security Clearance:

In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) through the Public Works and Government Services Canada Department prior to your first day. This includes: Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check and Credit Check.


Working Conditions and Work from Home requirements:

  1. Private working area that has a locked door, secure locked perimeter doors (patio doors require a locking bar or pin), an approved locking file cabinet and a locked office space in a controllable environment.
  2. Connection to reliable high-speed internet and an approved home network (we would either provide or specify the acceptable routers/connectivity equipment).
  3. Your work area must be private and free of household noise and it must mitigate any risk to privacy (e.g., information on your monitor can only be viewed by you).
  4. If your home is shared with others, you’ll need to use a privacy screen on your monitor.
  5. Your workspace must always be secured before walking away.
  6. You’ll need to use a headset when taking calls and not use a speaker phone to ensure others cannot hear the details of your call.
  7. You may be subject to internal physical site inspections.
