Project Manager | Civil

Ballina Contracting is a civil construction company based in Chilliwack B.C.

We are seeking a Project Manager with a background in civil construction and engineering. Position available in the Fraser Valley.

Purpose: The Civil Project Manager is responsible for the overseeing, planning, coordination, and successful completion of construction projects. This role is vital to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. Operate in accordance with and uphold Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all aspects of your work.

  3. Anticipates project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delay.
  4. Ensures project deliverables and plans are prepared and issued to the client in accordance with the contract requirements.
  5. Develops and monitors resource requirements for the project, coordinates with other personnel and operating divisions to optimize resource utilization.
  6. Corresponds with subcontractors and major suppliers to prepare contracts.
  7. Provides leadership in health, safety, quality and environmental protection of the project; Has working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes.
  8. Work closely with Senior Management to monitor financial aspects of the contract to protect the company’s interests.
  9. Monitors construction progress and updates Senior Management to ensure projects are built on schedule and within budget.
  10. Read, interpret, understand and implement project specifications (i.e. BC MOTT Standard Specifications, Master Municipal Contract Documents, etc.)
  11. Provides mentorship to direct reports to ensure they are properly supported and developing their skills and knowledge.
  12. Regularly monitors and reviews project cost variances, providing feedback to project teams as appropriate.
  13. Capable of identifying constructability issues in moderately complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule.
  14. Supports opportunity pursuits and the estimating of bids.
  15. Ability to travel to job sites as and when required.
Qualifications

  1. 3+ years of Project Management experience in civil construction.
  2. Post-secondary degree in Engineering, or Construction Management.
  3. Proficient in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing out projects.
  4. Knowledgeable of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  5. Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
  6. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  7. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  8. Ability to anticipate and address project risks and challenges proactively.
  9. Proven ability in establishing and enforcing quality control measures.
  10. Strong knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling and safety regulations.
  11. Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
  12. Proficient with MS Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  13. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  14. Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  15. Based in the Fraser Valley.

The salary range for this position will be discussed during the interview stage, taking into consideration candidate qualifications and experience.
