In the Engineering job family, Stantec is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technologist to contribute with a team on the design and delivery of land development projects for our clients. These rewarding projects will provide the individual an opportunity to learn and expand their engineering skills. The Edmonton office provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of municipal and industrial projects, including land development, water, wastewater, drainage, transportation, and related civil projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Acting as a lead designer in the preparation of engineering drawings for civil site, roadway, site grading and drainage projects utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  2. Complete designs for site grading and site servicing, including sanitary sewers, stormwater management and water distribution.
  3. Understanding and performing Engineering calculations.
  4. Producing drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  5. Preparing plan, section, detail, schematic and construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  6. Provide design guidance and instruction to drafting and design staff involved.
  7. Participate in quality assurance and quality control review on own projects and projects of peers.
  8. Creating a topographic surface and calculate quantities.
  9. Coordination of project drawings with Project Managers, CAD staff and others.
  10. Ensuring that the projects are completed in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  1. Must have a thorough understanding of land development (including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, storm water shallow utility coordination, roadway & lot design).
  2. Experience in the City of Edmonton and surrounding area is preferred.
  3. Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Take a solution-oriented approach to solving problems.
  5. Must exhibit attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Participates and collaborates in project team setting and able to engage in creative and critical thought.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of Civil 3D – including Corridors, Pipe Networks, Feature Lines and Surfaces.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software, including BlueBeam Revu.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of design experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; however, this position may require occasional field work depending on the season.
