The Opportunity

As a result of our expanded growth, an immediate opportunity currently exists in our Calgary office for an Engineering Designer/Engineer-In-Training to join our Public Sector group. The successful candidate(s) will be required to prepare construction drawings/documents, assist in the coordination of design and specifications within the context of a multidisciplinary design team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Prepare detailed design drawings (primarily using Civil 3D, and related applications) for a variety of assigned Land Development and Municipal engineering projects
  2. Preparing road design and final grading for urban residential development projects
  3. Developing engineering drawings and designs for land development and related water resources projects
  4. Participating in full-service design of Civil/Municipal engineering projects
  5. Storm water management, site grading, sanitary sewer and water distribution system design for subdivision and land development engineering projects
  6. Interpret topographic information required for design
  7. Perform site and lot grading
  8. Complete the technical analysis of municipal infrastructure components
  9. Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates
  10. Compile as-built records for design and record drawings
  11. Prepare contract documents for project tendering and execute project design drawings
  12. Prepare Site Grading, Servicing, Erosion/Sediment Control Plans, Details and Notes in AutoCAD for Site Plan Application
  13. Prepare Functional Servicing and Storm water Management Reports in support of Zoning By-law Amendment and Site Plan Application
  14. Prepare water/wastewater servicing calculations for proposed land development projects
  15. Prepare storm water management quantity and quality calculations
  16. Coordinate design with consultant team including but not limited to: architect, landscape architect, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, traffic consultant, hydrogeologist, and geotechnical engineer
  17. Prepare formal response letters to approving agencies addressing development engineering comments

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Completion of Civil Engineering Degree from an Accredited Institution
  2. 3 years of land development and or municipal design experience
  3. Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) Designation or Applied Science Technologist (AScT)
  4. Relevant internships
  5. Experience in Commercial, Subdivisions and Site Plan Design
  6. Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  8. Must be well organized to be able to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
