We are seeking up to 3 students currently enrolled in a civil or environmental engineering co-op (or internship) degree program, available for 8 month terms starting May 2025. Only students in work experience programs (co-op) will be considered.

What will you do?
IIS - Transportation Delivery [2 positions]
The Transportation Infrastructure Delivery (TID) manages the delivery of the City’s arterial and collector roads and bridges. The type of projects we deliver have included the Walterdale Bridge, Terwillergar Drive expansion, 50th Street overpass, as well as various streetscapes and special projects (snow storage sites, Edmonton waste management developments). Students that apply for this posting will receive a vast array of experience to understand and connect all that is required to make our City move.
Responsibilities:
- Support project managers and inspectors in the field at various road and bridge projects in the City of Edmonton
- Develop daily reports to document activities at construction sites
- Measure and survey quantities of completed construction activities, confirm results for payments to contractors
- Develop professional relationships and networking opportunities with various Local Contractors, Engineering Consultants, and City of Edmonton personnel
- Support General Supervisors and the Director of Transportation Delivery in various managerial tasks
- Assist in the development of project planning, budgets, scope definitions, objectives and implementation
- Assist in contract administration tasks in support of projects as required
- Assist in site meetings, reviews and reporting for construction projects
- Provide technical support to other team members within the group
- Assist in the advancement of strategic initiatives to support the Section
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a civil or environmental engineering co-op (or internship) degree program from a post-secondary institution
- A valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). May be required to arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This requires business auto insurance
Preferred Knowledge, Technologies, and Experience:
- Transportation related construction experience
- Surveying experience
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of City of Edmonton Roadway Design and Construction Standards
- Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Standards
IIS - Infrastructure Delivery Branch [1 position]
Responsibilities:
- Assist in contract close out administration and other project management tasks
- Assist in contract administration tasks in support of projects as required
- Develop professional relationships and networking opportunities with various Local Contractors, Engineering Consultants, and City of Edmonton personnel
- Assist in site meetings and inspections, reviews and reporting for construction projects
- Provide technical support to other team members within the group
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a civil engineering co-op (or internship) degree program from a post-secondary institution

Salary: 40 Hours per week: $28.003 - $32.667 (Hourly)
