Your Opportunity

In the role of the Civil Engineer in Training, this individual will contribute to a multi-disciplinary team on the design and delivery of land development projects for our clients located in the Saskatchewan and southern Alberta region. These rewarding projects will provide the individual an opportunity to learn and expand their engineering skills, while making a difference in their community.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Land development is a complex endeavor that requires understanding of multiple engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture, and construction disciplines. It involves bringing the best ideas from each discipline and weaving them together to create great communities for our clients and for future residents.
  • Prepare drawings and figures as required using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to support the project team.
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the design for greenfield and brownfield land development projects of high complexity.
  • With guidance, prepare designs for site grading and site servicing including water distribution, sanitary sewers, storm water management, shallow utilities, and erosion control design.
  • Support in the preparation of construction drawings and technical reports.
  • Complete tasks including the preparation of utility alignments and profiles, cut and fill calculations, wastewater and storm sewer flows, and noise attenuation studies.
  • Liaise with municipalities and other approving authorities to advocate for client objectives.
  • Build and foster relationships with clients, consultants, and municipal and provincial approving authorities.
  • Participate and collaborate in a project team setting and be able to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews for various deliverables.
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience as an on-site observer for active construction projects, liaising with contractors, surveyors, and municipal inspectors.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have a basic understanding of civil engineering principles including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, shallow utility coordination, roadway, lot design, as well as a general understanding of stormwater engineering concepts.
  • Ability to work as a team player and engage in constructive and creative collaboration.
  • Eager to take a solution-oriented approach to solving problems.
  • High emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software, which includes AutoCAD Civil 3D, PCSWMM, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.

Education and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered as an Engineer in Training in the Province of Saskatchewan and in good standing, or eligibility to be registered within the next 6 months.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience recommended. However, we are seeking highly motivated team members and provide comprehensive training and development of high potential candidates.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may be required on occasion and may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
