Job Description:
We are currently searching for a Civil Engineer to join our Municipal Infrastructure group in our Calgary office. The Municipal Infrastructure team provides engineering services for complex projects related to water, sanitary and stormwater infrastructure with an emphasis on underground installations. Our clients include municipalities, provincial government, telecommunications, and private utility owners.
This position will present many opportunities on a variety of tasks and our expectation will be for the candidate to develop proficient skills in all areas of project delivery, including preparing studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, contract documents, construction management, and construction inspection. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acts as Engineer of Record for designs, technical reports, cost estimates, technical specifications, and construction contract documents for work completed independently or by others through direct supervision.
- Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams from concept to design to construction.
- Execute tenders, constructability assessments, contract administration, and inspection of municipal infrastructure projects.
- Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews for other Engineers of Record on project deliverables.
- Mentoring and coaching team of engineers and technologists on technical work and project management processes.
Job Requirements:
What you will bring:
- Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA within six months of hire.
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience in design and construction of stormwater drainage, water transmission, sanitary sewer collection, and grading projects in both brownfield and greenfield settings. Experience in alternative construction delivery will be considered an asset.
- Proven application of government and industry design, standards, specifications, regulations, and guidelines for water, sanitary, and stormwater infrastructure design and construction. Experience with City of Calgary and Alberta requirements is an asset.
- Established relationships with product vendors and third-party utilities owners.
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and can travel within Alberta.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D is considered an asset.
