Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) / Personal Support Worker (PSW)

To assist with the provision of patient care and the efficient operation of the unit/area under the direction of a health care professional.

Education:

• Completed a recognized program for personal support worker
• Current Basic Rescuer Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hiring
• Membership in the Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) and/or Personal Support Network of Ontario (PSNO) is an asset

Experience:

• Previous patient care experience in a health care environment or health-related community work, preferred
• Able to discern relevant information to make effective judgments and decisions to manage care
• Great customer service skills
• Take initiative
• Commitment to lifelong learning
• Outstanding communication with team members, patients, and families
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal English skills
• Ability to speak a second language is an asset
• Able to prioritize and organize assigned tasks
• Functions as an integral member of the health care team

Unless otherwise stated, applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.

Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
