Job description

Our client is a well-establishedleader in online sports gaming based in the Caribbean with a TechnicalCenterof Excellence in Toronto, Canada. However, this role requires you to relocate to the Caribbean; paid for by our client. Salary will bepaid in US $ and the tax rate is afavorable25% They have engagedROSSto help them recruit a CIO.

  • The CIO's role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives that align with the mission of our client.
  • Direct Report:4 (Head of IT, Software Development Managers (2), Head of PM) – 90 employees in CIO’s Organization
  • The CIOdirects the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of Company’s operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and mission development.
  • This individual is responsible for all aspects of our client’s information technology and systems.

Essential Job Functions / Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  1. Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of our client as a member of the senior management team.
  2. Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve our clients’ goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  3. Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business.
  4. Establish IT departmental goals, objectives and operational procedures.
  5. Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing and in-house development.
  6. Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
  7. Develop, track and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  8. Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives.
  9. Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
  10. Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT organization.


Acquisition & Deployment

  1. Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  2. Approve, prioritize and control projects and project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information systems.
  3. Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.
  4. Define and communicate corporate plans, policies and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems.

Operational Management

  1. Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
  2. Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Establish lines of control for current and proposed information systems.
  4. Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices.
  5. Advise, counsel and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
  6. Promote and oversee strategic relationship between internal IT resources and external entities.
  7. Manage reporting needs and data analysis and ensure that the gathering, processing, distribution and use of pertinent information required by management to make decisions occur in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.
  8. Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree in the field of computer science or Master of Business Administration preferably with technology as a core component.
  • 10-15 years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT operation within the IT industry.

Professional Experience:

  • Strong business skills and experience of the highest order alongside technological and IT background.
  • Strategic planning and execution
  • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business operations.
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
  • Solid experience with systems design and development from business requirement analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization and development.
  • Deep understanding of project management principles.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Software Engineering Processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven leadership and management ability.
