Job Summary

Reporting to the Childcare Coordinator, the Childcare Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, caring and enjoyable environment to children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Successful applicants will have a history of commitment to providing quality programming and a passion for education of young children. Our preschool program implements many facets from the Flight framework curriculum and specifically we focus on a learning through play philosophy. Applicants should also be highly energetic and enthusiastic individuals who work well in teams and individually.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead or co-lead preschool programs and day camp activities and assist in drop-in childminding
  2. Actively supervise children while following our Child Guidance Policy
  3. Facilitate age-appropriate activities (including crafts and games both inside and outside) and integrating child development education in all areas
  4. Greet and have clear communication with families/members during drop-off and pick-up
  5. Collaborate with families on children’s needs, listen to concerns, collect all pertinent information
  6. Consistently deliver high quality service by maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with staff, members, and volunteers
  7. Ensure all administrative duties related to child minding and members are accurately completed as assigned by the coordinator
  8. Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios
  9. Comply with the Club’s emergency response and procedures by participating in an annual review of emergency procedures
  10. Act as needed to ensure a safe work environment for staff and members
  11. Notify the manager on duty if any emergency or serious problems arise
  12. Also required to be involved in other Club-wide events

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  1. Early Childhood Certification, minimum Level 2, and at least two (2) years related work experience
  2. Valid First Aid CPR Level C Certificate
  3. Current Vulnerable Police Check

Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Exceptional problem-solving skills
  2. Advanced written and spoken communication
  3. Highly organized and adaptable to change
  4. Knowledge of the Microsoft Office programs
  5. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
