Location: Shannen Koostachin

Total Weekly Hours: 28.25 to 37.5 hours/week

Schedule: Shifts are scheduled on Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):

• RECE: $27.94/hr
• Non-RECE: $25.40/hr

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience working with children up to 12 years of age
• Education:
  • Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education
  • A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered
• Certifications:
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
• Skills: Knowledge of 'How Does Learning Happen?' is a valuable asset
• Characteristics:
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license, as this position requires regular travel to centre locations in Hamilton and surrounding areas
  • Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
  • Availability to work from Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame
  • Flexibility to take on part-time or full-time schedules
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision
  • Passion for diversity, equality, and inclusion advocacy

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting and achieving goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities that promote children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework
• Supervising children in your care at all times and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment
• Organizing indoor and outdoor play areas, creating a welcoming space for all children
• Conducting daily health checks, maintaining documentation, and addressing any concerns with the Centre Supervisor
• Collaborating with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty and maintaining positive, professional relationships
